I am looking into buying any mp3 player, i just dont know which one, price range inbetween 100 and 300 dollars and plays at least 100 songs. any ideas?

When I was in your position, I decided on the features that were important. I wanted something with no moving parts, could run on a regular batttery, and was not made by Apple, based on their history of holding consumers hostage to proprietary hardware and software (media-content.) As it turns out, Apple is true-to-form with their iPod.
I have a 1 GB flash-player by Creative. It holds 17 hours of music at CD quality. I rotate content from my library of 45 GB stored on my hard drive.

Creative not bad. Ipod is fashionable, but its lousy battary….
Creative Labs Zen is a good choice, if you want to spend a little more, the Creative Labs Vision:M is a good choice, it plays video as well. Good quality and a nice substitute for an iPod.
Zens have 2-4gb
Visions have 30gb

I got an mp4 player, Chinese brand, its only about 50 dollars (450 chinese yuan)…….
1 Gigabyte, and the facilities are : Video (AMV), e-book, radio, voice recorder…..

The voice is pretty good…its clear.

It stores 2GB (about 500 songs), views photos, plays video, has an FM tuner, FM + voice recording, and the battery lasts 19/20 hours before you have to charge it. You can download games onto the Clix, too.
It’s got a cool design. You press the edge of the screen to navigate. Don’t mind the pictures, it’s much smaller than it looks.
It’s $200, the same price as the matching-in-capacity Nano.

well, u really do have many choices to make, really in the end, u just need to find what works for you. i have found that while the ipod is a solid player, it lacks some, extra features of other mp3 players and such. some companies are coming into the game now with new and sweet looking players, but may not know what they are doing. my two favorite companies are iriver, and a lesser known, COWON iaudio. i river is very solid, the iriver clix as someone mentioned is a nice player, tho, may have more than what you want, and a bit more bulkier than if you are just looking for soemthing to play songs, first i’ll just tell you what i like, then probably what you are looking for.
i really recommend looking at iaudio, a company who is on the ball as far as form, funcionality, looks, and technicalities are concerned. they have two players which i would advise u to look at. the first, is a bit older, yet, it greatly rivals and in my opinion, overthrows the ipod video and others in its class. it is a 20 gig player, which can be found for 300 or under, great battery life, and much more. the other is the A2, which is new, it is a 4 gig player, does video and much more.

now, if you are simply looking for a player that will give you the songs you want, and thats it, at a good price and other stuff. get the ipod nano. if you really arent into all the other little things that make geeks go whooopyy, then check out that.
in the end, research what you are looking at, see what others say, take the good with the bad, and vis versa. everything has negatives, but some arent much to worry about, while others may overbear upon the plyaer.
Creative Lab the 20G. It also stores pics and can record off of the radio and has exellent sound. I also had a Phillips that has excellent sound but it freezes sooooooooo much and the way the headphones are made are annoying.
